BAFU 2025 - GWP direct land use gives 0 kg CO2eq. for wooden products

Hi all,

It is the first time I am using BAFU 2025, and I am using it for developing an EPD for wooden countertops. 

When calculating the impacts with EF 3.1 all looks fine, except for "GWP direct land use and land use change" for which the result is 0 kg CO2 eq. Do you know why that can be? 

Other zero values appear also for : 

• Resource - Use of renewable primary energy resources used as raw materials (PERM)  
• Resource - Use of non renewable primary energy resources used as raw materials (PENRM) Resource - Use of secondary materials (SM) 
• Resource - Use of renewable secondary fuels (RSF)
• Resource - Use of non renewable secondary fuels (NRSF)
• Waste - Hazardous waste disposed (HWD)
• Waste - Non hazardous waste disposed (NHWD) 
• Output - Materials for energy recovery (MER)     
• Output - Materials for recycling (MFR) 
• Output - Exported electrical energy (EEE)            
•  Output - Exported thermal energy (EET)   

It would be great if anyone can help understanding why it is that, and if maybe at this stage it is better to use ecoinvent cut-off 3.11 + EN15804+A2.

At this stage, yes it's better to use ecoinvent cut-off 3.11 + EN15804+A2 version because the indicators where you claim you have zero values are embedded within the background database of the add-on. BAFU does not contain such EN15804+A2 indicators and hence not feasible for EPD use yet .

Thanks for your answer.
I tried calculating the results again with EF 3.1 Method (adapted) and I can see that now GWP-luluc is characterized. However, not all the EN15804+A4 indicators for Resource, Waste and Output are calculated with that method or the EN15804+A2 (EF3.1) method. It is a pity that it is not feasible to use this database for EPDs.
