Functional unit

Question

When a whole building is used as a functional unit ,is there any conversion factor that has to be done since I have the whole m² of the building and total mass of material used.

this answer is a bit harsh maybe but I tend to agree.. functional unit is one of the core concepts of LCA, and admittedly difficult to define for a building.
