good question, this depends on which type you give to these flows, waste, or product: for product flows, use a minus (and remember to use a minus where these are treated as well), for waste flows, do not use a minus. Modeling with waste flows is typically easier, more intuitive and avoids some common mistakes (as: forgetting a negative sign somewhere).
