Is it possible to run a stand-alone server on MacOS?

I wish to use a stand-alone server for MacOS:

I cannot find the `bin` folder or the `ipc-server.cmd` file etc. in the MacOS application, which leads me to conclude that this may be linux/windows functionality only. Is this true? Am I missing something?
Thank you!
P.S. Docker would add a level of complexity to my use case.
