Hello,

I know how a consequential model works with regards to multi-functional processes.

For example, when an incineration process produce heat (as a co-product), the consequential model will consider the heat as a negative input, so that the burden will be avoided.

However, what about a single-output process?

For example, photovoltaic electricity production in which the only output is 1 kWh of electricity.

How the consequential approach (for example the consequential version of ecoinvent) is considered here?

Thanks

As a short answer, via the input products that are selected/linked in this process; in ecoinvent, the consequential process uses products from technologies classified as "new", and it is somehow not considered that there are often several "new" technologies in reality.
