"required" I cannot tell, ecoinvent can be used (the Environmental Footprint pilot was initially using ecoinvent as background); ideally, you have anyhow specific data for your product in question, and rather need to complete common supply chains with the background database, and thus the question: "which database can be used for modeling the green bike that I produce" becomes rather a question "which database contains best generic supply chains, fit to the method and LCIA method of my study".
