I'm trying to perform an LCA for the production of a battery cell using the EF database. As the EU Battery Regulation requires the functional unit for all carbon footprint information to be kgCO2eq/kWh, I would like to model my processes with kWh as the unit of the output flows (from a certain point in the production onwards, for the production of earlier stage materials I'm using mass or volume depending). Is there any way to create or add new reference flow properties?

Hi battery_LCA,

theoretically you can give any product flow (e.g. battery cell), the flow property "kWh". You can just modify it under https://greendelta.github.io/openLCA2-manual/flows/flow_tabs_contents.html. If you need more help for such questions, feel free to have a look into the manual or book support here https://nexus.openlca.org/service/openLCA%20Support%20(help%20desk).

Hi JonasHo,

thank you for your answer. That manual entry only describes how to choose from the existing list of flow properties, which energy is not included in. My question aims at creating a new flow property that doesn't exist yet.
