Hello everyone,

I'm trying to add a new impact assessment method (LC-Impact) to the openLCA software in order to calculate the biodiversity impacts of a system specifically as this impact assessment method isn't currently available in the openLCA nexus page. Is it possible to copy and paste the characterization (impact) factors for the different flows of the respective impact categories directly into the openLCA software from the excel sheet (or) can the flows and the corresponding characterization factors (for the specific impact categories) only be added manually? I'm asking this as there are many flows for each impact category and it looks tedious and time consuming to add everything manually. Thanks in advance.

Hi Raveen,

very interesting question, it workds not exactly as pasting excel files but you do not need to do it manually. If you want we can schedule a call to discuss details, the method fits nicely to openLCA 2 with the regional impact assessment capabilities. Let me know.

Thank you!

Hi I have the same question :) Raveen or Andreas, can you please summarize what can we do to calculate those impacts, please?

Dear Andreas,
I started to add LC-Impact to openLCA as well, as I need to use this method for estimating potential biodiversity loss. This is one of the current methods recommended from SETAC-UNEP to estimate this, so it is quite important. Would it be possible to have a call with you as well to understand how the excel files can be "imported" into openLCA please?
Thank you very much in advance.
Best, Maria

Hi Andreas,

I have the same question. How can I implement new impact assessment methods for test purposes?

Kind regards,

Hi Julian, you can of course create a new method, create new categories, and add flows with factors? Or since openLCA 2, you can also copy existing categories to your method?
