Water treatment plant in OpenLCA

Dear colleagues,

 

We are trying to create an evaluation of a water treatment plant in OpenLCA. But we have a lot of questions about the process, so if you can help us, we would be very grateful.

First, our objective is to evaluate the environmental performance of the scrubber when eliminating microplastics. We have 3 stages of treatments, so that each one of them eliminates a certain amount of a certain type of plastic in different sizes. The most harmful are the smallest, which are eliminated in the last phase of treatment.

In OpenLCA it is not possible to determine the effects of plastics by their size, right? We can identify plastics by mass, right? This would greatly limit our study.

So, would you have any recommendations on how we should proceed within the software to make the most of our inventory data?

Have you tried the "Drinking water, production mix, at plant, water purification treatment, from surface water" by P.E. International?
