I'm modelling a waste treatment process that produces mainly biogas and digestate (AD). What is the correct method to account for the by-products of a waste management process? I would like to account for the environmental benefit of producing biogas and digestate, meaning that environmental impact (benefits) of these by-products would "reduce" the environmental impact of the overall waste treatment process.
Can i do this by selecting the elementary flows of methane and other elements that constitute the biogas, for example, as "avoided product" or i need to expand my system and model the use of biogas instead of natural gas and digestade instead of other fertilizers?
