Your question is not clear. Mass allocation is performed if the products have similar economic value and/or prices fluctuate a lot. Not sure what your byproducts are. However, openLCA allows both methods to be applied. Maybe perform a sensitivity analysis if the allocation mode has strong influence on your results.

Thank you for the response. Our product is manufactured using a raw material which is a waste material from Cashew nut processing industries called cashew nutshell oil. Since it is a waste product it is ideal to use an economic allocation and include the carbon sequestration value of the tree in the calculation of our LCA. is this the right approach?
