Hello, I am currently establishing a waste treatment process and want to select a  background dataset from the EF database (such as waste plastic landfilling). However, after I placed this dataset at the input end, I couldn't select a provider, presumably because the reference flow is a waste flow. But for correct modeling, it should be necessary to select a provider, otherwise the corresponding environmental impact cannot be calculated. So how should I model this correctly? Looking forward to your reply.

For the modeling, it is important what is connected in the model graph. The selected default provider in the process input tab (for input products) or for output waste is only a preset / default that is used when openLCA automatically makes the connections in the product system (if it is told to make the product system by automatically connecting processes, and using default providers). So - you can add a connection yourself if you find this is useful for your model, in the model graph.
