Consideration of production waste

Dear all!

I am wondering how to consider the impact of production waste at LCA. For example, the investigated process leads to 1% of parts which can´t be used. How do I take the impact of those into account? is one approach simply to add 1% to all input and output data while keeping the functional unit fixed to the production of one part?

Hi Dieter,

the logical consequence is to model the 1% as waste flow and connect it to the supply chain to treat the waste. This would also mean that you don't produce one part but 99% of a product. Kepp that in mind. To keep everything balanced to produce one part, you also need more input then, yes.
