I am using openLCA with the BAFU 2025 database and EF 3.1 adapted. I need to model water separated from drilling sediments that is pumped to a basin and passively evaporates.
I used “Water vapour” as an elementary output to air, but it has no characterization factor in EF 3.1 adapted, so the water use impact is zero.
What is the correct flow to use for evaporated water in BAFU 2025? Should this evaporation be characterized in EF 3.1 water use, or should I keep “Water vapour” only as an LCI flow and report the evaporated amount separately?
