I wanted to use the EN 15804+A2 add-on for ecoinvent with the corresponding EN 15804+A2 LCIA methods for an EPD.
However, I noticed that the water use impact category (WDP) is not regionalised and only considers emissions (the global characterisation factor of −42.95 is applied to unregionalised air emissions).

Could you explain why this choice was made, given that, on the other hand, in the openLCA LCIA methods, EF 3.1 uses regionalised characterisation factors?

I have seen several other questions regarding the water use LCIA, and I understand that it may create mass-balance issues considering the allocation applied in ecoinvent. Is this related?

Even taking this into account, I still consider it preferable to use regionalised characterisation factors. Would you recommend replacing this impact category with the EF 3.1 water use category from the openLCA LCIA methods instead? What would be the main drawbacks or limitations of making such a change?

Thank you in advance for any help
