Yes that is correct, the system reduces environmental impact then. This is possible if you have system expansion in your model, for example. There are some pitfalls with waste modeling or impact category directions in older databases that could lead to impacts incorrectly showing up as negative. You can see this quite nicely in the contribution tree (for product system, analysis result, not in the projects).
