Having trouble importing KML or ecospold2 data into the existing Background/Location lists (either default, or added when importing an xml or zolca file, which can bring its own set of locations. This is true in 1.7 and earlier versions, based on my limited tests). Geographies from ecoinvent do not import (error message says they are not ecospold format), and importing basic kml files seems difficult. UUIDs seem to drive this.... even when location names are the same, you'll wind up with a new "Argentina" with kml data, but it has a different UUID than the Argentina in the Locations list, and thus is not linked to any processes using the original Argentina.
The workaround at present is to manually copy and paste xml data into the kml editor. That's okay for a few countries, but there must be a more elegant solution that I'm missing!

The US files (e.g., https://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/data/kml/kml_state.html) import without error but do not create locations with kml data, and the ecoinvent (https://geography.ecoinvent.org/) does not import. The error message seems to say that ecoinvent data are not in ecospold2 format.
