The product system (dismantling for recycling) is common to all recycling options being compared and thus has multiple inputs from different processes. We tried to use global parameters as switches to for example take an input from one recycling option by setting the parameter to 1 and the rest all to 0. On calculating, the software crashes and closes down. It works when setting all global parameters to 1. Is this even the correct approach to using global parameters? Can they be used as switches?

As explained in other posts here, the calculation does not work when two or more lines or columns are not independent in the technology matrix, which happens e.g. if you set two complete lines to 0.

Parameters can be used as switches, but I have done this so far for non-global parameters only. With global parameters, you can set values across processes, which makes them quite powerful.

I hope this helps, best wishes, Andreas
