Should upstream transportation impact be included in LCA studies?

Let’s say I use products purchased from a retailer as inputs for my production process. Do I need to include the transportation impact from the manufacturer to the retailer?

Well you can decide this and specify this in the goal and scope section of your study, but normally you will include the transportation efforts in the supply chain, they are part of the life cycle and often have a high contribution to the overall impacts.
