Dear GreenDelta,

Do we need to import LCIA methods in EN15804 add-on (ecoinvent v3.11)?

I do not think so, because in the EN15804 add-on database, I see LCIA methods already included, and this is what you've provided in the past.

However, in the v3 release notes for the add-on, it says "Nevertheless, the latest EN15804 LCIA method from Nexus must be present in the database before the import to directly link all EPD results to the correct LCIA method automatically."  This seems a strange thing to say if the LCIA methods are already included, and makes me think we have to import them separately.

Please could you clarify?

Thanks

Dear Steve,

If you purchase the EN15804 add-on, the LCIA method pack it is included and already up to date. However, you can always check for the latest updates on our Nexus page:
https://nexus.openlca.org/database/EN15804%20add-on, under the section EN15804 LCIA Methods.

We provide the LCIA methods separately also because there are several ways to import EPD results into openLCA, as described here:
https://greendelta.github.io/openLCA2-manual/epds/importing_results_3rd_sources.html.

Having the correct impact categories available in the database ensures that imported EPD results can be mapped properly to the corresponding LCIA methods.

Best regards,
Sarah
