Hi all,

I would like to update a product LCA model with EN15804+A2 add-on of ecoinvent v3.11 version 2 to the nelwly release version 3. I am used to SimaPro and updating databases was straightforward even though it was taking some time. Is there a manual or standard procedure for doing this in OpenLCA? Is it relatively easy to do?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can simply export your models and re-import them into the new database (see Guideline to update user models.pdf (1.1 MB)). You can also export all LCIA methods from the new Nexus version 3 database as JSON-LD and import them with "Overwrite all" into your old database. You can export all LCIA methods by right-clicking on the "EPD Methods" folder. You can also import the latest "EN15804 LCIA Methods" package from Nexus for version 3.11 and import it into your old database with "Overwrite all". Make a backup before.

Only the LCIA methods got updates and some elementary flows for manual modeling were added to the inventory indicators, which are also part of the LCIA methods. No process inventories or other database elements got changed. So if you update the LCIA methods (which will also overwrite the LCIA categories), this should be sufficient.
