Hi,

I have a question regarding the market datasets included in ecoinvent. Since the market activities are defined as transferring activities to connect intermediate outputs from transforming activities to other transforming activities that consume the intermediate outputs, are the elementary flows contained in the market activities only from gate to gate stages or from gradle to gate stages? For example, for market activities of electricity, are the elementary flows of electricity production activities already covered in them? Will double counting occurs if the cradle to grave environmental burden for the electricity supply is calculated with both market dataset and production dataset. Thank you for the answer.

Hi Suzy, you can check yourself, typically the market processes do not contain any elementary flows, only links to processes producing the products. If you use only system processes then of course the market processes already contain everything due to their link to the production processes. I hope it makes sense to you.
