Hello,

I've been reading numbers of threads in this forum, but without real solutions. I'm using Open LCA 1.11

When I want to export Direct calculation to Excel, an error occured,

When save as a LCI and try to recalculate, same error.

And when I want to save project results, got 4/5 java script pop-up with errors and then nothing happened.

Could you please bring some hotfixes about Excel export or at least some tips for a successfull export to Excel,

Thanks

Hi Tom,

if your system is really large, then it exceeds the permitted columns in excel (16383 columns); 16383-7 processes are permitted. This is as such a limitation of excel (2007, as the log file says, but also in newer versions, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/excel-specifications-and-limits-1672b34d-7043-467e-8e27-269d656771c3).

some hotfixes about Excel export

So, you expect us to fix this now for you, right? In my ei 3.8 APOS database test product system, the export works with  ~ 15700 processes

and the excel file has already 450 MB.

We could split the sheets in case of larger systems, but then the file size would increase further. Would this be ok?

"hotfix" is maybe too dramatic for the case, but we could address this in openLCA 2.

I admit I do not understand

And when I want to save project results, got 4/5 java script pop-up with errors and then nothing happened.

But maybe you rather want to complain in general and not a solution? The 1.11 project report is an HTML page and some IT systems block this (or, show an empty page), and then the export does not happen. We address this in openLCA 2 where the project is a normal page again.

Best wishes,

Andreas

edit: for the hotfix:

https://www.bmc.com/blogs/patch-hotfix-coldfix-bugfix/

[hotfixes are] applied to a “hot” system—a live system—to fix an issue:

    Immediately
Without creating system downtimes or outages.

Thank you for your fast reply - 26k processes is really a lot, I wonder how you did that (combining two different ecoinvent system models in one database and product system?)

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for such a detailed answer

Well, I've checked my system product and there are 26395 processes and 282k linked process, so I might be part of the answer.

I'm using 3.7.1 db with unit processes and not system processes, so it might also explain  why there're so many data.

I'm waiting the 3.8 version with both Unit and System databases.

You mean the word hotfix is too much for the current case? For me, a hotfix is a small patch.

Thanks for the answer for the report. In fact I've to select all the calculated categories values and then paste them into an Excel sheet and manually set the 100% and so on.

Best regards,

Thomas

On the External Data tab, in the Export group, click Excel. In the Export - Excel Spreadsheet dialog box, review the suggested file name for the Excel workbook (Access uses the name of the source object). If you want, you can modify the file name. In the File Format box, select the file format that you want.
