I have data for my foreground process with a mean and standard deviation from a normal distribution for each flow. I can enter the mean and stdev into the 'Uncertainty' column by using the normal distribution, but if I would want to use the added uncertainty from the Pedigree matrices by using the 'Data quality entry' column, I get a bit confused.
Namely, I don't understand what the 'Base uncertainty' stands for. Let's say I have a material flow with a mean value of 0.95 and a stdev of 0.23. If I choose a Ped matrix (3; 4; 1; 1; 2) and leave the Base uncertainty as 1, the calculated uncertainty is something like 1.15, which is much higher than my original stdev. This doesn't seem right. To me, it would make sense to use the original stdev in the Base uncertainty instead of 1, but this increases the calculated uncertainty to somewhere around 4.3, which again doesn't seem right.
Am I completely misunderstanding the use the Data quality entry tool?
